Basic knowledge of golf

October 23 , 2021

Golf is a sport suitable for all ages. There is nothing more wonderful than going to an outdoor golf course with friends. Get physical exercise, breathe fresh air, laugh with friends-this is golf!

1. To know the process of this sport

The process of golfing is to use a long-handled device called a club to drive the golf ball into each hole on the court in sequence. Usually 9 to 18 holes are played, and the total score is not calculated until the next player hits the ball into the next hole.

2. Learn how to keep score

In golf, the lower the score, the better. Every time a player hits the ball, it counts as one point, which means that the person who hits all the balls into the hole and gets a low score (cue hits) will eventually win. Here are some terms related to golf.
Par: refers to the number of strokes preset for each hole (also refers to the score obtained), which is the number of strokes a high-level golfer needs to hit the ball under normal circumstances. A player who hits this number of strokes is often referred to as "equal to par."

Bogey: Bogey is a score that is one stroke above par. If a player completes a hole with more than one stroke more than par, it is called a "double bogey", "three bogey", etc., depending on the total number of strokes played.
Birdie: Refers to a score that is one stroke below par.

Eagles: A two-under-par performance in a hole of par four or higher.
Hole-in-One: Hole-in-One refers to a player from the teeing ground (that is, the starting position) to hit the ball into the hole with just one stroke.

3. To understand the various positions of the stadium

Every golf course has five parts, including the teeing area. Listed below are the other parts of the court:
Flat fairway: refers to the flat area from the teeing area to the green.
Long-grass area: refers to the uneven area with grass or other vegetation around the flat fairway on the court.
Putting area: Putting area, also called green, refers to the location of each fairway hole.
Obstacle area: The obstacle area is a specially set area where it is difficult to hit the ball. Usually include bunker barriers and water barriers.

4. Know your cue

Different golf clubs have different physical properties and are used for different types of shots. Knowing which type of club to use in which situation is a skill that continues to accumulate and improve for professional golfers, but the basic distinction is still relatively simple:

"Wooden clubs" have a wider head and are generally made of very light materials, such as wood or light metal. Wooden clubs are used to play "long clubs", which means that the ball has a longer flight distance. Such clubs are also called "woods".

"Iron rods" are much narrower than wood rods and are usually made of heavier metal. Iron rods are generally used for short and medium shots.

"Put" is a special club used to hit the ball in the light hitting zone. The precise grasp of the direction and speed of the ball will determine whether you can hit a birdie or a bogey. Putters are generally small and made of light metal.
